From BBQ Basics to Low and Slow Honors courses, the curriculum at the latest Kingsford® University in Las Vegas was served hot off the grill, complete with a highly-anticipated Pork 101 demonstration.
“Kingsford University was incredibly successful, and the pork course was a major highlight with the attendees,” says Nick Meyer, marketing manager for Kingsford Charcoal, which teamed up with the Pork Checkoff for the event in early March.
As an in-depth education in all things barbecue, the three-day Kingsford University included rib recipe demonstrations by Kingsford Pitmaster Chris Lilly. The event attracted many of the nation’s top barbecue bloggers and food editors from magazines including Cooking Light, Family Circle and Southern Living. When the Pork Checkoff’s Stephen Gerike, director of foodservice marketing, displayed half of a hog carcass to show where various cuts of pork come from, the audience was practically spellbound.
