No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the egg containing products were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of egg. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by mislabeling in the company's packaging process.
Productions of the products have been suspended until the FDA and Mai's Bakery are certain that the problem has been corrected.
Consumers who have purchased “Hopia Mongo” and “Moon Cake” products are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Mai's Bakery at 626.307.9629, between the hours of 8am–6pm, Sun-Thur, PST.
