S.C.s Metrolina Greenhouses Prepare For A Busy Season

It's the size of five Concord Mills Malls, grows products that are shipped to more than 1,000 retail outlets.

The products are flowers, herbs and vegetable plants grown year-round at the 5.8 million square foot Metrolina Greenhouses in Huntersville.

With spring here and the warmer weather upon us, officials at Metrolina are gearing up for another busy season.

"Floriculture is a $250 million dollar per year business in North Carolina, having passed tobacco five years ago, and Metrolina represents more than 50 percent of that overall business," said CEO Abe Van Wingerden.
