With the MIFROMA Brand entering the market & Musco’s Distribution Network, Joe Macaluso of Musco Food Corp., expects that there will be a resurgence of the popularity of Specialty Swiss Cheeses in the USA.
“When I first began visiting Gourmet Stores in the early 1980’s I fondly remember seeing prominent displays of Gruyere, Emmentaler, Appenzeller, Raclette, Vignerons, Vacherin Fribourgeois & Tete de Moine !” Macaluso notes, “With a lack of marketing & the introduction of many Specialty Cheeses from Italy, France, Spain & Holland the Swiss Cheese became somewhat “lost in the shuffle. Other than Gruyere and Emmentaler the others mentioned are rarely seen or
promoted.”
Now, with aggressive pricing, marketing & demos, Macaluso feels that once again the Specialty Consumer will see both value & appreciate the quality of these cheeses. The unique flavor profiles of these cheeses are a result of the cows grazing on rich, lush herbal meadows that are unique to Switzerland and centuries of expert cheese-making. Musco Food Corp. will first introduce & focus on a select group of cheeses & then will increase the range as the recognition and demand continues to grow !
