Wholesalers asked WF&FSA to create a timely report of key indicators to help them measure their performance. WF&FSA created the Industry Benchmarks Report which is published quarterly. Here are the key facts that are reported.
- Revenue growth broken down by perishables, non-perishables and all other.
- Gross margin by the same breakdown.
- Operating expense.
- Operating profit.
- Sales per employee.
The reports are only available to WF&FSA wholesale members who participate! You may have as many locations reporting as you would like.
Schedule: At the end of each quarter you will receive a request by e-mail for your data. You have 30 days to send your data to the Profit Planning Group. You e-mail your data directly to the Profit Planning Group using an Excel spreadsheet that they will provide. As soon as the information is available following the end of each quarter the Profit Planning Group will e-mail reports directly to you. When you first start the program you will be asked for data for the past four quarters. We need your historical data to make the report accurate.
Confidentiality: Only the staff of the Profit Planning Group will have access to your financial information. Because you send the survey directly to the Profit Planning Group, neither the WF&FSA staff nor its members have access to any individual company's financial information.
The Profit Planning Group operates by a strict code of business ethics, which respects the confidential nature of the data. We offer this written assurance that no individual firm's operational or financial data supplied will ever be seen by, or revealed to, any persons outside the immediate and necessary staff of the Profit Planning Group. Results will be reported on a national basis.
