The Food World supermarket at 4440 University Blvd. E. in Cottondale is recalling about 545 pounds of ground beef that may contain small pieces of metal.
The recalled beef was ground and sold at the store between 7:15 a.m. Monday and noon Wednesday.
The packages are labeled 75 percent lean, 80 percent lean and 85 percent lean. Only ground beef from the Cottondale store is affected.
Food World said the ground beef was packed in pink trays with clear cellophane wrapping. The packages have labels in bold capital letters saying “Ground fresh daily” and contain the date and time stamps between 7:15 a.m. March 7 and noon March 9.
