2010 was a mixed year for retail florists. Business was OK for the most part and holiday sales for major floral holidays, while not spectacular, showed improvement in the final month of 2010. The industry held its collective breath in anticipation of a strong Christmas holiday season.
The question on everyone’s mind: Would 2010 end on a high note or with disappointment?
Past surveys had shown florists upbeat about their own businesses prospects, and that renewed optimism remained intact through the fourth quarter. While economic results are unique to each business, as we consider the collective results of the SAF Economic Outlook survey, the answer to the question seems to be “Yes” – optimism in the fourth quarter remained intact and presumably would carry over into the New Year.
