On January 25th, 2011, we officially started the construction of our first manufacturing facility in the United States. Beginning early next year, this state-of-the-art, dedicated gluten-free facility will play a key role in bringing you the best in gluten-free taste and nutrition. And you will see some great new products as well – like our new frozen breads, Hearty White and Hearty Grain.

Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno of New Jersey and Freeholder Director Robert Demminger joined Schar USA CEO Hannes Berger, President Donna George and Lorenz Kofler, Executive Director, Production of Dr. Schär Srl, for the ceremony at Logan Township, NJ. During the event, our CEO and the Lieutenant Governor planted a time capsule with groundbreaking documents and blueprints at the location of the new facility. We expect the time capsule to be reopened soon, however, for the expansion of the plant!
With production to begin in early 2012, the 50,000 sq. ft. facility will create 51 new jobs in Gloucester County, NJ. As with all of Schar’s facilities, the plant will be dedicated gluten-free and adhere to the highest quality standards in the industry.
For the U.S. consumer, the facility means improvements in distribution and production of our existing line of 32 products. But what’s even more exciting is that we will further expand our product line in the coming year, and this facility will help us in meeting the demand for new products.
