Taco Bell Offers Facebook Users Free Tacos

In another sign that retail and restaurant chains are embracing social media networks for their promotions, Taco Bell announced it will give away 10 million tacos to Facebook members who “like” the fast-food chain’s Facebook page.

Taco Bell, a division of Louisville-based restaurant giant Yum Brands Inc. (NYSE: YUM), said in a news release that the promotion will allow its Facebook fans to print a coupon for a free Crunchy Seasoned Beef Taco.

The tacos normally retail for around 99 cents, so the value of the online campaign could equate to about $9.9 million for Irvine, Calif.-based Taco Bell.

As of Wednesday morning, Taco Bell had more than 5 million followers who liked its Facebook page.
