SONOMA, Calif. – The Eighth Annual Sonoma Valley Cheese Conference – an annual gathering of movers and shakers in the artisan cheese industry – will take place Feb. 27 – March 2, offering attendees an opportunity to network with fellow cheesemakers, retailers, distributors, food writers and cheese enthusiasts.
Hosted by Sheana Davis of The Epicurean Connection in Sonoma, Calif., the highly-respected conference is a premier destination for cheese industry opinion leaders from across the nation, and this year, will honor the memory of Jim Boyce, president of the Marin French Cheese Company, and friend to all in the cheese community. “He will be greatly missed,” Davis said.
Conference festivities kick off a day early in San Francisco on Saturday, Feb. 26, with Cheese Plus hosting a public Winter Artisan Cheese Fair from Noon – 3 p.m. The event showcases cheesemakers leading the artisan and farmstead cheese movement, as well as wines and ales from Sonoma County.

• Saturday, Feb. 26: Winter Artisan Cheese Fair & Cheesemaker Reception. Location: San Francisco.
• Sunday, Feb. 27: Cheese, Beer & Wine Tasting. Both the public and conference attendees are invited to an opening reception to kick off the Eighth Annual Sonoma Valley Cheese Conference. Location: MacArthur Place in Sonoma. Tickets: $25.
• Monday, Feb. 28 – Tuesday, March 1: Annual Conference. Sessions this year revolve around the theme of “Creating & Encouraging Support Systems for Artisan Cheesemakers.” The conference offers an invaluable opportunity to learn as well as sharing knowledge, challenges and solutions. Location: MacArthur Place, Sonoma. Tickets: $250, includes all sessions and lunches.
• Wednesday, March 2: ZingTrain Session. Ari Weinzweig of Zingerman’s will present a dynamic, small-group session for retailers: Zingerman’s Innovative Approach to Management, Living Servant Leadership. Location: MacArthur Place, Sonoma. Cost: $1,000 per person. Space is limited to 15 persons.
