Cabot Creamery Cooperative Honors ‘Community Celebrities’ For Volunteerism

CABOT, Vt. — On January 31, a group of 40 remarkable people from around the country will be whisked away aboard the Celebrity Century cruise ship for a six-day Caribbean tour. They, along with their guests, were plucked from small towns like Twentynine Palms, CA and large cities like Phoenix and New York, but they are not your average group of contest winners. Each one has a remarkable individual story, and each was selected for the volunteerism they have contributed to their communities with no thought of reward for years or even decades. They are shining examples of the difference one person can make, and Cabot Creamery Cooperative is honored to honor them for their service.

Each of these local heroes and their guests will join other winners from around the nation, along with members of Cabot's management team and local radio station personalities who helped promote the program and identify local winners.

"Every one of the Community Celebrities joining us on the cruise deserves recognition for their tireless work, and they have more than earned a little down time and a bit of pampering," said Roberta MacDonald, VP of Marketing for Cabot Creamery Cooperative. "Day after day, year after year, these remarkable people give back to their communities by creating or participating in charitable programs aimed at improving the world around them. We don't think they get enough thanks for their efforts, and we are going to make sure they receive plenty during the trip."

The cruise departs from the port of Miami on January 31 and returns February 5. Along the way, the Celebrity Century cruise ship will stop in Roatan, Honduras and Cozumel. The winners will attend an honorary dinner on the first night with a special recognition ceremony to highlight their individual efforts and celebrate the collective spirit of volunteerism.

The 1200 farm family owners of Cabot Creamery Cooperative, best known as "Makers of the World's Best Cheddar," recognize the importance of volunteerism and want to acknowledge the unsung heroes of local communities for their hard work. While the winners of this trip typically shun praise, Cabot's farm family owners want the notion of "celebrity" to evolve into a broader recognition of selfless volunteerism. This trip is Cabot's way of saying "Thank You" to people everywhere who serve their communities and enhance the quality of life for those they serve.
