Many years ago, I fell in love with the Asiatic lily while working at a florist and greenhouse. We would force lily bulbs into bloom and then use these blooms for arrangements.
With their bright summer blooms, Asiatic lilies are a wonderful garden addition. Some of the first Asiatic lilies I planted were in my grandmother's rose garden. After the bulbs were forced into bloom where I worked, I would take the bulbs with the attached stems and foliage and plant them in the garden. Not all of the plants survived after the stress of being forced into bloom and transplanted, but the price was right.
Once I had my own gardens, I was given a pot of forced lilies that were dark orange in color.
After enjoying the blooms, I planted the bulbs in my garden. For several years, I have enjoyed these great blooms, both in the garden and as cut flowers inside my home.
