Payson, UT – Temkin International, Inc. is pleased to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year. In addition to reflecting on the past and recognizing the exceptional customers that have helped the company reach this exciting milestone, Temkin is celebrating by investing in new equipment and capabilities.
Danny Temkin left Israel in 1976 to come to America because it was “the land where dreams come true” and they have been coming true for him ever since. Danny started Temkin International in 1980 in the left half of a two-car garage at his home in California. True to the entrepreneurial spirit, Danny built his first roll machine and even his first press by hand – and personally delivered rolls of “Cellane” to florists in Los Angeles.
After more than a decade of rapid expansion, Danny moved the company to Springville, Utah. Following the addition of locations in Miami, Florida; Ontario, Canada; and Bogotá Colombia, Temkin International moved its headquarters to Payson in 2005. Here in a facility spanning over 360,000 square feet—approximately the size of six and a half football fields—Temkin enjoys the capacity to process and print over two million feet of material per day.
Danny attributes much of the company’s success to having hired the right people. As a testament to Danny’s leadership, Temkin has 42 employees who have been with the company for 13 years or more, including several employees which moved with Danny when the company came to Utah.
At the company’s anniversary celebration, Danny was presented a working miniature of the company’s first printing press, built by Temkin’s talented maintenance team, and fitted with a miniature printing plate of Temkin’s first in-house design – Christmas Holly. “It’s Unbelievable!” was Danny’s repeated reply as he marveled at each of the tiny moving parts and reminisced about what it took to build that first press and everything that has transpired since. An inscription engraved on the base appropriately expresses the sentiments of the builders: “To a great man who built a great press, that built a great company.”
Now in its 30th year, Temkin continues to grow and innovate, finding new and better ways to serve customers and to create the trend-setting floral packaging and merchandising products the company is known for. With a new 8 color press, an expanded art department, enhanced production capabilities, and a variety of new floral packaging products, Temkin is better positioned than ever to deliver exceptional floral packaging in industry leading turnaround times.
