Wisconsin-based dairy cheesemakers Schuman Cheese recently launched vegan cheese brand Vevan.
Vevan aims to replicate the traditional cheese experience—”minus that whole moo-cow dairy thing, of course”—for flexitarians, vegetarians, vegans, and those who are lactose intolerant.
The brand used its decades of skill and experience in cheesemaking to create a product lineup that includes vegan cheddar, mozzarella, and pepper jack shreds and slices. The company rolled out its products to the foodservice sector in February and will begin retail distribution to major supermarkets, club stores, and local grocers this spring.
