Watsonville, CA – The California Giant staff has been preparing for the Holiday season for months and the annual Santa’s Workshop activities to support the community. Each year, the staff conducts fundraising events to adopt families, kids and causes during the holiday season. They are supported by company owners with matching funds to sweeten the pot and add to the gifts under the tree.
This year is no different and the fundraiser held over the weekend energized the staff and transformed the California Giant lobby in Watsonville literally to Santa’s Workshop inviting the community to enjoy photos with Santa who stopped by for the afternoon. Kids enjoyed arts and crafts, candy canes and shared their Santa wishes all day with proceeds from the photos benefitting families in need during the holiday season.
To date, the company has raised over $11,000 allowing the staff to adopt 10 families with 30 kids through local non-profit agencies, an additional 18 children at a Foster center, 178 children though Partnership for Children in three surrounding counties, boxes of toys for the Salvation Army, and groceries for Loaves and Fishes.
“This is one of the many ways our staff works together all year to benefit others. Supporting our community during the holidays brings us closer together while bringing joy to those in need. Our core mission here at California Giant is to deliver the best quality berries and give back to our communities and we are truly living the mission together” says Joe Barsi, Chief Operating Officer.
The staff will round out the season of giving by personally purchasing, wrapping and delivering the gifts to several non-profits along with grocery gift cards to ensure a holiday dinner is possible for each family.
The final event of the year is sponsorship of ‘Share Your Holiday’ in partnership with local TV station, KSBW in support of the Salvation Army on Friday, December 6, 2019. The entire community comes out for this annual event and visits the California Giant cooler on Industrial Way in Watsonville, in person donating toys, food, clothing, blankets, and cash to ensure those in need receive support during this holiday season. California Giant staff will be on hand during the telethon style event hosted by KSBW greeting community members that bring donations sharing holiday cheer and spirit together. Donations can also be made online at ksbw.com during the event.
