Long Island City, NY – Twenty-one cheesemakers with whom Forever Cheese partners have been named among the winners at the 32nd annual World Cheese Awards in Bergamo, Italy. They stood out from the crowd as a record-breaking 3,804 entries were judged in a single day at Fiera di Bergamo on Friday, October 18. The pioneering importer of specialty cheese had over 30 cheeses from its catalog win coveted awards at the event.
Partners of Forever Cheese from Italy and Spain won awards ranging from Bronze to Super Gold. Among the winning cheeses were Alisios® (Bronze), Barbablu (Super Gold), Capricho de Cabra
(Silver), Garrotxa Sant Gil d’Albió (Silver), Los Cameros Mixed Milk (Gold), Manchego El Trigal® 1 Year (Silver), Maxorata Majorero DOP Curado al Pimentón (Gold), Mitica® Parmigiano Reggiano (Super Gold and Best Italian Cheese), Montealva (Bronze), and 100% buffalo milk cheeses from Quattro Portoni, including Porta Rocca (Bronze), Quadrello® di Bufala (Silver), and Surfin’ Blu (Gold).
Entries represented 42 nations from six continents at the World Cheese Awards this year, and were assessed by appearance, texture, aroma, and flavor by 260 judges from 35 different countries. The winners have gained an internationally recognized seal of approval from a truly global cheese event. Visiting Italy for the very first time, the competition formed part of Bergamo’s annual FORME festival, taking place alongside the brand new international dairy trade show, B2Cheese.
