As many of you have read in the news, Latin America is facing an unprecedented refugee crisis and there is an urgent need for the business community to help the displaced people integrate into their new communities. Our amazing and forward-thinking HR and management teams in Colombia have humbly been a leader in how the private sector can be a part of the solution in this intensifying refugee crisis.
Since 2017, we’ve been collaborating with the local government in the Cundinamarca region to process and hire Venezuelan refugees and Colombian returnees. To date, Sunshine has hired over 1,600 part-time workers and provided them with fair wages, temporary housing, transportation, access to medical care, job training and educational opportunities.

The team in Colombia has been recognized for their efforts and this year Sunshine Bouquet has been invited to become a member of the Tent Partnership for Refugees. The Tent Foundation’s mission is to mobilize companies in the private sector to help improve the lives of refugees by leveraging their core business competencies. We were honored to present our renewed commitment this Monday in New York City at the first-ever Latin American Business Summit on Refugees along with 22 other companies including Airbnb, Telefonica, WeWork, Teleperformance, and Sodexo.
