Perdue Farms Delivers Truckload of Protein to Support Food Bank of the Albemarle’s Hurricane Dorian Relief Efforts

Salisbury, Md. — Perdue Farms has delivered 35,000 pounds of no-antibiotics-ever chicken to the Food Bank of the Albermarle to support their ongoing relief efforts in coastal North Carolina following Hurricane Dorian.

“Food Bank of the Albemarle would like to thank Perdue Farms for this incredible donation of protein that will nourish our communities who are suffering the devastation from Hurricane Dorian,” said Liz Reasoner, executive director of the Food Bank of the Albemarle. “Nutritious protein is one of the most-requested items at the food bank, and this generous donation will provide approximately 29,000 meals, and a sense of relief, to those families and individuals in need.”

Hurricane Dorian forced the evacuation of thousands of people along North Carolina’s coast and caused widespread power outages, causing families to lose all of their perishable food.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those people affected by Hurricane Dorian, including our neighbors in coastal North Carolina,” said Jeff Stalls, director of Perdue operations in Lewiston, N.C. “We hope our donation of nutritious protein will help families as they continue to recover from the storm’s impact.”

Perdue also delivered a truckload of ice from its Lewiston operation to support relief efforts on Ocracoke Island on the Outer Banks with the help of transportation partner Baynor Trucking of Plymouth, N.C.
