Another longtime family operated grocery store chain in central Pennsylvania is exiting the business and selling to Giant Food Stores.
Musser’s Markets announced Aug. 18 it will sell three stores in Lancaster and Lebanon counties to Carlisle-based Giant. The stores are located in Quarryville, Columbia and Lebanon.
The last day of business will be Oct. 17.
In a press statement, Musser’s cited increased competition, the changing industry, customer buying habits, loss of their wholesaler (AWI) and online pressure as reasons they approached Giant. Musser’s called Giant “the best fit for our locations, customers and our employees.”
