ATLANTA —Governor Brian P. Kemp announced that EarthFresh, a leading Canadian produce company, will create 100 jobs and invest $22 million in an advanced technology packing plant and distribution center in College Park.
“EarthFresh made the right decision by choosing Atlanta to expand their operations,” said Governor Kemp. “Georgia is the epicenter of the Southeast and offers international companies a solid home base as they expand into new markets across the U.S. It is my pleasure to welcome EarthFresh to Georgia, and I look forward to celebrating their positive impact on the local community in College Park.”
Headquartered in Burlington, Ontario, EarthFresh specializes in supplying the food service and retail industries with premium potatoes, carrots, and onions. This new 140,000 sq. ft. facility in Fulton County will utilize the newest available technologies and equipment to serve customers throughout the Southeast.
“This new location perfectly complements our vision and plan to provide fresh potatoes to our retailers, food service distributors, and consumers,” said Tom Hughes, CEO of EarthFresh. “The addition of this new location will allow us to keep expanding our base of business and target new customers. The assistance provided to us by the Georgia Department of Economic Development was invaluable. The State and people of Georgia will benefit from our investment of bringing fresh potatoes to the area and creating more jobs.”
“Congratulations to EarthFresh on their expansion and for choosing metro Atlanta to break into the southeastern and southcentral U.S. markets,” said Hala Moddelmog, President and CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber. “The EarthFresh Atlanta facility will continue to highlight our region’s business assets, including our prime location for logistics, skilled workforce, and natural resources.”
Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) Global Commerce Director Wylly Harrison represented the Global Commerce Division in partnership with Metro Atlanta Chamber, Quick Start, and Georgia Power.
“We are excited to welcome EarthFresh to Georgia,” said GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson. “The company’s decision to locate in Atlanta was critical to meeting the needs of their customers across the Southeast. I am confident that our interconnected logistics infrastructure and readily available skilled workforce will make it easy for them to succeed here.”
EarthFresh Atlanta will be fully operational in September 2019.
