PROVIDENCE — Unions representing Stop & Shop workers are set to continue negotiations with the grocery chain Tuesday as a widespread strike enters its sixth day.
Labor and management have scheduled talks before a federal mediator at the Graduate Providence, formerly the Biltmore. Issues of contention in the contract talks included pay, health care and the automation of work.
The United Food and Commercial Workers strike affects hundreds of stores across Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Tens of thousands of UFCW workers, including Local 328 in Rhode Island, walked off the job Thursday afternoon.
