TORONTO – For an increasing number of Canadians seeking delicious, plant-based options, Quesada Burritos & Tacos is excited to announce it will launch the Beyond Meat® Burrito made with Beyond Meat’s Feisty Crumbles, available nationally at nearly 120 restaurants across Canada starting tomorrow. Through the partnership, Quesada becomes the first national chain in the Mexican quick service restaurant category, in Canada to partner with the revolutionary plant-based foodservice company, Beyond Meat.
“More of our customers are identifying as flexitarians and requesting plant-based options so we’re thrilled to be Canada’s first Mexican chain to offer the Beyond Meat Burrito,” said Steve Gill, Founder and Chief Recipe Officer, Quesada Burritos and Tacos. “Beyond Meat’s Feisty Crumbles perfectly replace animal protein with plant protein that’s juicy and satisfying to anyone – no matter their dietary preferences.”
Quesada’s house-made recipe for the Beyond Meat burrito combines an authentic blend of Mexican flavours with the spicy heat of Habanero pepper, giving that extra flavour kick for which the national Canadian chain has become known. Quesada’s Beyond Meat Burrito can be customized with an array of options that include its homemade Mexican slaw, famous guacamole and made fresh daily Mexican salsas.
Beyond Meat’s 100% plant-based Feisty Crumbles are made from pea protein. The product is the only gluten-free and soy-free crumble on the market, with half the saturated fat of ground beef and no cholesterol or antibiotics. The crumbles are made using simple plant-based ingredients that when combined with Quesada’s sauces and toppings, make for a delicious and satiating burrito.
“We pride ourselves in creating delicious, sustainable protein for the center of the plate that enables consumers to continue eating what they love, in this case satisfying tacos and burritos, while enjoying the health and environmental benefits of plant-based meat,” said Ethan Brown, Beyond Meat Founder & CEO. “We are excited to expand our Canadian presence by partnering with Quesada – a true success story in menu and flavour innovation.
Beyond Meat Burrito Advertising & PR
Saatchi & Saatchi’s Toronto office developed the creative and advertising for the campaign that takes a visually bold and ‘mouth-watering’ approach that prominently features the Beyond Meat Burrito and Bowl. Ads include a ‘100% delicious’ sub-head that reinforces Beyond Meat’s mission to appeal to both non-meat eaters and those consumers – or flexitarians – open to incorporating more plant-based proteins into their diets. The introduction of the Beyond Meat Burrito will be supported via digital banners (mobile), Facebook & Instagram, SEM and in-store. Public relations and social media efforts are being handled by V & Co. PR & Marketing Communications.
