We presented ourselves with an enlarged, redesigned booth at this year’s IPM from 22 to 25 January 2019. On 220 square meters exhibition space accessible from all sides, we combined new and award-winning varieties, attractive marketing concepts and brand new young plant technology. For the third time now, cut flowers of our subsidiary Selecta Cut Flowers were exhibited.
One of the topics of our stand were the autumnal decorated recommendations for plant combinations for late summer and autumn – the Autumn Friends concept, where young plants grow in a combination pot from the date of potting on. The successful mini carnation Pink Kisses® was presented in different pot sizes and packaging. Regarding the end consumer campaign, we strengthen the communication at the PoS and support in particular the specialist retail in 2019. In this context, we plan a Pink Kisses® DIY tour in cooperation with the German Garden Centre Association (VDG). Also, our award-winning varieties of the last years were shining at the stand: FleuroStar winner 2018/19 Osteospermum Purple Sun, FleuroStar winner 2017/18 Calibrachoa PinkTastic®, the successful Petunia variety NightSky® and the other Sky varieties BabyDoll®, LightningSky and GlacierSky. An important part of the stand was for sure our Poinsettia assortment with proven Poinsettia varieties such as the Christmas Feelings® family and the modern beauties of the Christmas Beauty series.
One of the IPM highlights was our exciting Poinsettia novelty: Christmas Mouse® – a slightly different Poinsettia. The robust variety with round bracts instead of pointed ones convinced the expert jury of the novelty award of the IPM 2019 in the category flowering indoor plant. “A new shape, a new product, a new impetus for a bestseller of the German pot plants.” was the conclusion of the judges. The unusual soft-looking shape of its leaves reminds of the ears of a mouse. Inspired by the Christmas poem “The Christmas Mouse” by German storyteller James Krüss, the variety name and a suitable marketing concept in a comic design came about, which should also intrigue the youngest target group. We support our customers and retail with suitable advertising material.
