Two new Publix locations in the Tampa Bay region will feature the deli on the sales floor, similar to stores in downtown St. Petersburg and on the University of South Florida campus, spokesman Brian West said.
In those stores, the deli counter feels like a restaurant within the grocery store, with a focus on convenience. But while the USF and St. Pete stores are on the very small end of Publix’s size range — less than 30,000 square feet — the new stores in Odessa and Palmetto are 48,000 square feet, which are at the larger end of the spectrum.
The stores will be in Starkey Ranch Town Square at 13589 State Route 54 in Odessa and in Gateway Commons at 9520 Buffalo Road in Palmetto. Both are slated to open in the third quarter of 2019, West said.
