OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Students from Olathe Northwest High School in Olathe, Kansas are the grand-prize winners of the KC Fuel Up to Play 60 Video Contest sponsored by the Midwest Dairy Council and the Kansas City Chiefs. Their winning 30-second commercial selected by a panel of three celebrity judges, including KC Chiefs Running Back #25 Jamaal Charles, KC Chiefs mascot KC Wolf and Kansas dairy farmer Byron Lehman, embodied the spirit of the contest theme “Be Healthy. Get Active. Make a Difference” as part of the Fuel Up to Play 60 program. Launched by National Dairy Council and the National Football League (NFL), in collaboration with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Fuel Up to Play 60 empowers youth to engage their peers to “fuel up” with nutrient-rich foods they often lack – particularly low-fat and fat-free milk and milk products, fruits, vegetables and whole grains – and “get up and play” with 60 minutes of daily physical activity.
Olathe Northwest students won 50 tickets to the Kansas City vs. Denver game on December 5, a pre-game tailgate party and a JumboTron premiere of their commercial on game day. Additionally, their commercial will air on local TV and their school will be able to use a HOPSports training system for one month. Honorable mentions go to second-place winner, Holy Rosary-Wea in Bucyrus, Kan. and third-place winner, St. Paul Lutheran School in Concordia, Mo. They each receive a HOPSports training system at their schools for one month and a HD video camera.
The Midwest Dairy Council and the Kansas City Chiefs led the pack to host the KC Fuel Up to Play 60 Video Contest for Kansas and Missouri students in grades six through 12. It was designed to encourage youth to engage in a healthy, active lifestyle while showcasing their Chiefs spirit and video skills. The winning videos can be viewed online at www.KCFuelUp.com.
