Cheese is the new black, says Barrie Lynn – The Cheese Impresario and host of the new online video series Cheese Rules. Appearing on Small Screen Network, Cheese Rules is dedicated to educating viewers on all things cheese including how to serve it, how to cook with it, how to throw a cheese tasting party, and how to increase pleasure by pairing cheese with wine, beer, sake, spirits, and cocktails.
Artisan cheese has made a recent breakthrough into the consumer market, making the leap from specialty cheese shops to mainstream grocery stores across the country. We are in the middle of such an exciting time for experimenting with so many previously unheard of American cheeses, all widely available. But who really has the confidence to know what goes with Dolcina Gorgonzola, Raspberry BellaVitano or an aged Asiago? Or even how to sever and store them? Cheese Rules was developed to educate and fuel the passion of cheese lovers everywhere.
Host Barrie Lynn is at the forefront of cheese education and is a perfect match with the informative and entertaining experience Cheese Rules provides. As Barrie Lynn states, “there’s an element of the joy of discovery when people learn about the diversity of artisanal cheeses, how to entertain with them, how to cook with them, and how to pair beverages with them. Cheese appreciation is much like music appreciation – once you learn to listen so much more opens up. I can’t wait to turn people on to more amazing cheeses along with the accoutrements and beverages that ride down The Cheese Highway with them.”
The series was shot in Seattle at Chef Kathy Casey Food Studios was released on Small Screen Network starting Tuesday, October 12th, 2010. NFL star Shaun Phillips, starting linebacker for the San Diego Chargers and a passionate cheese connoisseur, is featured in 3 episodes including one that pairs Barrie Lynn’s Peanut Brittle and Gorgonzola Grilled Cheese Sandwich with a classic Bourbon Manhattan. This sweet and savory creation will open people up to new ways to enjoy artisan cheeses with friends and family.
Sartori, a third generation family owned Wisconsin cheesemaking company and winemaking family, Frey Vineyards, have sponsored episodes of the new show which includes titles such as What is Cheese, How to Store Cheese, To Rind or Not to Rind, How to Taste Cheese, How to Throw a Cheese and Wine Pairing Party, Cheese Pairing with Cachaça and Cheese Pairing with Mezcal.
