National Mango Board To Host Virtual Industry Outreach Meeting

Orlando, Fla. (November 17, 2010) – The National Mango Board (NMB) will host a virtual outreach meeting on December 1st at 4 p.m. EST to share information about the board’s results and a proposed increase in the assessment on fresh mangos. Participation in this web-based virtual meeting is free, and registration for the event is quick and easy. The event will be presented in English.

Attendees will learn about the proposed assessment increase that will be considered by USDA. Find out how the National Mango Board invests the industry’s funds currently and how the proposed increase will be used to fund expanded marketing and research programs. Attendees will also learn how the process of increasing the assessment through USDA rule-making will work.

The board hosted a total of four virtual outreach meetings in 2010, one per quarter, according to NMB executive director, William Watson. “Through this web-based format we were able to focus on different topics for each virtual meeting, and we could open up attendance to mango industry members across the United States and around the world,” said Watson. Earlier events focused on marketing and research programs, and the first virtual outreach meeting in 2010 provided an overview of NMB programs and results. Recordings of the visuals and audio for the first three virtual outreach meetings of 2010 are available on the board’s website, www.mango.org.
