Hispanic Grocers Focus On Customer Service, Specialty Products

Walk into any local Hispanic grocery store and head straight for the back counter.

That's where you'll find a product that sets these stores apart from your typical chain grocers: Chorizo, which is a specialty sausage made from the butcher's own recipe.

Despite the down economy, these small, family-owned stores don't mind the expense of cutting meat to order.

In fact, it's one of a few ways these stores keep people coming back – by focusing on customer service and specialty products – even though there may be fewer patrons, store managers say.
