Hawai‘i Tropical Flower Council (HTFC) is proud to be the host of our 2nd annual Tropical Trends – The 2010 Hawai‘i Tropical Flower Marketing Conference: Profit Through Innovation and Linkage.
Tropical Trends 2010 offers a week of activities from October 3 to 10, 2010, held at the UHM Komohana Ag Complex and the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel.
The Conference is designed for growers, florists, and those in the Hospitality industry with an interest in: marketing the “Hawai‘i” brand, setting trends in the floral industry and creating a sense of place.
It provides a unique networking opportunity for growers, florists and allied traders in the hospitality industry with information that has immediate practical and commercial applications for your business. And how HTFC is working to lead the effort to increase the profitability, profile, growth and linkage of Hawai‘i’s tropical flower industry.
Tropical Trends 2010 will give you access to international experts providing a unique opportunity to discuss new marketing strategies, next design trends, latest product techniques, and industry challenges for the future new ways of responding to changes in the buying patterns of the consumer. It will also present new strategies HTFC has for meeting them and how these can have a positive impact on your business and advance as the leader in the industry.

Key Issues – The Conference will provide information on flower industry trends, marketing and promotions, new strategies for branding and leading the market and the latest in post harvest developments.
Floristry – Innovative Floral Designs – An interactive floral demonstration and workshop presented by an award winning designer. The floral designs will be unique in both style and presentation. The workshop will be held at the UH Komohana Ag-facility.
Product, Brand and Experience – Environmental Branding and Perception Design —Exploring the real moment of truth and understanding How consumers experience the Hawai‘i’s Flowers Brand. Living artistically, aesthetically, and creatively means that we develop sensitivity to beauty and use it to create an environment that nurtures those around us. The use of floral designs and plants provides an outlet for the creator and provides nurture and a cocoon of tranquility for others.
Hospitality Linkage – Innovative partnerships and creating the Sense of Place through Hospitality industry marketing. Trade professionals will present and discuss opportunities for increasing linkage and marketing collaborations. Expanding the use of tropical flowers and plants to create a Sense of Place and the use of flowers and floral images in Hawaii’s hospitality industry marketing messages.
Developing Direct Markets for Small Box Sales – provide information on development of direct marketing and small box sales. Internet marketing methods and innovative strategies.
Social Program – Various social activities are planned to provide ample opportunity for networking. This begins with the Reception on Friday evening. The Conference Networking Reception will be held on Saturday evening in the Moku‘ola Ballroom, Hilo Hawaiian Hotel.
International floral trade and market trends – Flower trade worldwide has evolved into a multi-billion dollar business consumption markets in North America and the European Union, Japan and Asia. Session will review current market trends as they pertain to trade of cut flowers and foliage worldwide and observations on what designers are doing to influence the marketplace.
Expanding Direct Sales of Hawaii grown floral products to international markets Where does Hawaii fit into the world of floriculture supply? Who is the competition? How Hawaiian growers can set themselves apart to buying community and expand direct sales to the younger generation of online customers?
