CAVA Opens a 55,000-Square-Foot Manufacturing Facility in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley

As part of its ongoing work to build a scalable infrastructure to support its growth, the company made an initial investment of approximately $35 million in the facility, which manufactures CAVA’s proprietary dips and spreads, including tzatziki, harissa, and Crazy Feta®, as well as select dressings. Along with an existing facility in Laurel, Maryland, the Verona operation can support at least 750 restaurants and the expansion of CAVA’s consumer packaged goods business.

Joachim Wessel Becomes New MD for Cermaq Chile

Joachim joined Cermaq at the start of 2020 and has a long and successful career in the salmon industry; he has worked for major companies such as Mowi and AquaChile and previously was a CEO of another salmon company, Friosur.  

SFP 2023 Reduction Report Shows Continued Drop in Fisheries Performance

New reports by Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) released (part 2) and October 2023 (part 1) show declines in performance of key reduction fisheries for the sixth year in a row, highlighting the need for more active and long-term industry engagement to ensure good fisheries management. Two more fisheries dropped into the “poorly managed” category: Chilean jack mackerel – SE Pacific (Peru), and blue whiting – NE Atlantic (which dropped after moving up in 2022).
