Governor Murphy Recognizes Retirement of Secretary of Agriculture Douglas Fisher

Governor Phil Murphy today marked the retirement of Department of Agriculture Secretary Douglas Fisher. Fisher has served as Secretary since 2009 under the Corzine Administration and after 14 years of dedicated service to the state’s agricultural community, his retirement is effective tomorrow, July 1, 2023. Assistant Secretary Joe Atchison III will direct the department, assuming the responsibilities of Secretary. 

‘Add Milk!’ Program Launches on Pine Ridge Reservation, Expands Across South Dakota

A nutrition incentive program that helps low-income families purchase healthy fluid milk products is expanding across the Oglala Sioux Nation and the state of South Dakota. The Add Milk! program is being launched by the Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences Hunger Solutions Institute (HSI) and select retailers to provide a dollar-for-dollar match for participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, when they purchase low-fat or non-fat milk.

IDFA to DGAC Reviewers: Don’t Ignore Scientifically Valid Studies on Dairy and Milkfat

The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) submitted comments today on the protocols to examine the scientific questions that will be addressed by the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC). In submitting comments, IDFA was responding to the 2025 DGAC’s request for feedback as it reviews the body of scientific evidence on nutrition and health necessary to formulate a credible and reliable Dietary Guidelines for Americans report at the end of 2024.
