Certified American Grown, the cut flower and foliage industry association focused on strategic promotion and advocacy for its members, has once again supported the Tournament of Roses® through generous donations of flowers and foliage to be used to adorn floats such as the Cal Poly Universities entry.  Other floats, carriages and signage also utilized American grown beauties to help bring the festivities alive.

Special Collaboration on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in the Chrysanthemum Sector

Six major propagators in the chrysanthemum sector have joined forces to further reduce the use of chemicals in the production of cuttings in Africa. Since 2017, the unique group of companies comprising Dekker Chrysanten, Deliflor Chrysanten, Dümmen Orange, Floritec, Royal van Zanten and Armada (since 2020) has been collaborating closely on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) with the aim of achieving this common goal. Their efforts have already provided the results they needed and a great deal of insight for the future.

Judge Rules “Gruyere” is a Common Food Name and Not a Term Exclusive to Europe

A judicial ruling has determined that “gruyere” is a generic style of cheese that can come from anywhere. The decision reaffirms that all cheesemakers, not just those in France or Switzerland, can continue to create and market cheese under this common name.

Darigold President & CEO Stan Ryan to Retire March 31; Joe Coote Promoted to CEO Through Planned Succession

Darigold, Inc. announced that President and CEO Stan Ryan will retire at the end of the co-op’s fiscal year ending March 31, 2022, after leading the global dairy company for six years. Under the company’s succession plan, Joe Coote, who currently serves as president of Darigold’s Global Ingredients Division, has been promoted to CEO of the 104-year-old dairy co-op, one of the largest privately held businesses in the Pacific Northwest.
