WAPA Releases First Apple and Pear Stock Figures of The Season

WAPA, the World Apple and Pear Association, released today the first apple and pear stock figures of the season. The figures show that in Europe apple stocks increased by 6,8% compared to 2020 to reach 4,917,891 T, while pear stocks decreased by 27% to 656,438 T. In the USA, apple stocks as of 1 December 2021 stood at 1,909,045 T (-2,6% compared to 2020), while pear stocks reached 224,278 T (21,6% above 2020). WAPA will continue to publish the monthly stock figures on its website and social media channels for the rest of the season.

CFIA Notice to the Fish and Seafood Industry – Export to the European Union (EU)

Effective January 15, 2022, exporters for commercial food and animal commodities destined for the European Union (EU) will be required to use updated export certificates, which contain new and more complex animal health requirements. In addition, as a result of the new EU requirements, advanced requests for export certification of each shipment prior to export will be required for live and fresh seafood leaving for the EU on, and after, January 15, 2022.

Abbyland Foods, Inc. Recalls Beef Stick Product Due to Misbranding and Undeclared Allergens

Abbyland Foods, Inc., an Abbotsford, Wisc. establishment, is recalling approximately 14,976 pounds of beef sticks due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The product contains milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. 

Interstate Meat Dist. Inc., Recalls Ground Beef Products Due to Possible E. Coli O157:H7 Contamination

Interstate Meat Dist. Inc., a Clackamas, Ore., establishment, is recalling approximately 28,356 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced.
