This week he’s retiring, as produce education director, after nearly 46 years with Hugo’s Family Marketplace, a chain of 10 grocery stores in North Dakota and Minnesota. Today will be his last day of work, he said.

2019 California Fresh Fig Season Underway

According to the California Fresh Fig Growers Association, the 2019 California Fresh Fig season is well underway and will continue through mid-November. This year’s breva crop, the first crop of the season, is plump and delicious. The main crop, expected to be harvested in July, will be plentiful and colorful, providing lots of flavors and textures throughout the season.
