United Fresh Releases Updated Food Safety Guidelines for the Fresh Tomato Supply Chain

United Fresh Produce Association is pleased to announce the release of the updated version of the Food Safety Programs & Auditing Protocol for the Fresh Tomato Supply Chain, commonly known as the ‘Tomato Metrics’. These metrics were initially developed in 2009, endeavoring to harmonize food safety audit standards for the fresh tomato supply chain.

Jason Wolcott has joined Fall Creek Farm & Nursery, Inc., as its commercial director, responsible for the company’s commercial strategy and execution, including planning and fulfillment of blueberry plants, customer service and technical support, and the development and administration of blueberry variety licensing platforms.

California Avocado Commission Launches Summer Entertaining Program

With June’s California Avocado Month drawing to a close, the California Avocado Commission (CAC) has launched a new Summer Entertaining program to support the brand through the remaining season. The crop is expected to have continued availability into August with limited volume later. CAC’s new program includes Fourth of July and summer-themed retail promotions along with supplemental advertising and consumer communications.

“Dutch Lane” Tulip Named After Lane DeVries

Last week at the International Floriculture Exposition in Miami, our own Lane DeVries was surprised with a very special ceremony. A new variety of tulip, bred in Holland, was named in his honor.
