Deli Star Merges With King’s Food Products

Deli Star Corporation (Deli Star), a producer of high-quality cooked meats, merged on April 1 with King’s Food Products, a Belleville, Illinois-based producer of confectionary fudge and a co-packer of several brands of sauces, dressings and salsas. The merged company, with common ownership by the families of brothers Dan and Tom Siegel, will operate under the Deli Star name, while preserving the King's Food brand name for its key product line of specialty fudge.

De Medici Imports and Atalanta are proud to announce that three of their products received 2018 Sofi Awards from the Specialty Food Association. De Medici’s Villa Manodori Dark Cherry Balsamic Vinegar of Modena won the gold award for Vinegar. Mandranova Cerasuola Extra Virgin Olive Oil was the silver winner for Olive Oil. Since 1993, De Medici’s collection of extra virgin olive oils and vinegars have been recognized by the Specialty Food Association over 14 times. In the Granola and Cereal category, Atalanta’s Agribosco Organic Italian 10 Minute Farro received the gold award.

Berkshire Schools Gets $2M Donation From Great Lakes Cheese, Epprecht Family

The Epprecht family, along with the Great Lakes Cheese Co. that the family has owned since 1958, made a $2 million donation to Berkshire Schools on April 13 in a special ceremony held in the Berkshire High School Gymnasium.

Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. announced the Company was notified after the close of business on April 13, 2018, by Rose Acre Farms of Seymour, Indiana, of a voluntary egg recall. The eggs involved in the recall have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Braenderup and were distributed from Rose Acre Farms’ Hyde County, North Carolina, facility from January 11, 2018, through April 12, 2018.
