Mother’s Day Spending To Reach $23.1B, $2.6B Of It On Flowers

Mother’s Day spending is expected to total a near-record $23.1 billion this year, according to the annual survey released today by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics. A total 86 percent of Americans will celebrate Mother’s Day and spend an average of $180 per person.

Syngenta Flowers To Acquire Dahlia Assortment From Verwer Dahlia BV

Syngenta Flowers announces today that it has reached an agreement with Verwer Dahlia BV to acquire its dahlia assortment and breeding program. Both companies expect to finalize the acquisition in the coming weeks. Terms have not been disclosed.

Based on The Hill, Volpi Foods produces a variety of Italian meats, including prosciutto, pepperoni and pancetta. Volpi will train Schnucks' employees to operate the store-within-a-store. Customers purchase Volpi products at a Schnucks register.

CIAA QIP Announces It Will Host 15 Food Retailers At SIAL Show In Paris, France

The Cheese Importers Association of America Qualified Importer Program (CIAA QIP) announced today that it will sponsor an all-expenses paid educational trip for 15 food retailers to the Salon International de l'Agroalimentaire (SIAL), the largest food exhibition in the world, taking place in Paris France, October 20-24, 2018. Since 2012, this educational trip for retailers has been a part of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) funded QIP Retailers program.
