MSU Horticulture Garden’s 2017 Trial Results Are Now Available

As we near the end of 2017, another successful trial garden season has come to a close at the Michigan State University Horticulture Gardens. The purpose of our trial gardens is to grow and evaluate new species and cultivars of a wide range of plants under our mid-Michigan climatic conditions. Every trialing season is different in terms of the plant breeding companies represented, diversity of plant material entered into the trials and the weather conditions. The temperature and rainfall was much closer to the historical average this year and gave us a needed reprieve after the drought conditions of 2016.

Hawaiian Floriculture And Nursery Products Register Highest Value Since 2009

Floriculture and nursery products were reported to be at their highest value since 2009. The 2016 preliminary value of Hawai‘i’s products is estimated at $74.5, according to NASS, Pacific Region, Hawai‘i Field Office. Increases in sales were attributed to landscape plant material and other nursery products. Cut flowers totaled $6.33 million, a slight increase from 2015.

AIPH Approves Flormart 2018 Trade Fair In Italy

The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) has given approval to Flormart 2018 to become a D category International Horticultural Trade Fair according to the Regulations of AIPH. Flormart will take place in Padova, Italy on 19-21 September 2018 and will feature ornamental horticultural exhibitors from Italy and around the world.
