USDA Seeks Nominees For The Mushroom Council

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking nominations for the Mushroom Council to fill three seats for representatives whose terms expire Dec. 31, 2017. Selected members will fill an open position in Region 1, Region 2 or Region 4. Each member is appointed to serve a three-year term.

Advance Customs Brokers in cooperation with Don Wrinkles of Port of Miami, Robert Balaam, National Operations Manager, USDA, APHIS, PPQ and Seaboard Marine, hosted a Pre-Clearance Workshop at the Port of Miami. The event was attended by over 70 participants representing over 50 different companies including pineapple shippers from Costa Rica, Chinese vegetable growers from Honduras, a representative from the Guatemala Association of Growers as well as importers, ocean carriers and trade interests.

One Banana Helps Families Affected By Recent Floods In Peru

Extreme weather has battered many parts of the world this year, but few countries have suffered more in lives, homes and crops lost than Peru, where torrential rains and massive flooding for much of this year has affected over 90,000 people.  Heavy rain began to fall on January 30th in the northern region of Piura. Since then, more than 2,500 people have been displaced, with over 500 homes destroyed.
