BCSFA Announces Expanded Public Salmon Farm Tour Offerings For 2017

The BC Salmon Farmers Association (BCSFA) is inviting members of the public to join one of its popular tours being offered during the spring/summer of 2017. This year’s public tour offerings will include dates in June, July and August. Tour participants will have the opportunity to visit a farm and learn more about how our vibrant industry works, all the while enjoying a boat ride across the Johnstone Strait – taking in the beautiful scenery and the chance to see marine wildlife.

Pork 101 Course Announced

The American Meat Science Association (AMSA) will host a Pork 101 course May 23-25, 2017, at Texas A&M University, in College Station, Texas. The course will provide an overview regarding the selection, evaluation and fabrication of pork carcasses. Attendees also will learn the importance of hog handling, grading and food safety, and will have an opportunity to prepare and sample products from pork carcasses including pumped loins, bacon, hams and sausage.

Ohio Farmers Donate 6K Pounds Of Pork To Dayton Nonprofit

The donation of lean ground pork will provide around 30,000 meals to hungry families in the Miami Valley, according to the Ohio Pork Council. The council partnered with other sponsors like the Ohio Corn Marketing Program to donate the meals.

Tyson Foods Promotes Doug Ramsey To President, Poultry Operations

Tyson Foods, Inc.’s chief operations officer, Noel White, recently announced the promotion of Doug Ramsey to president of Poultry Operations, overseeing the company’s poultry business units. Ramsey succeeds White, who was promoted to chief operations officer in February.
