Prairie Farms PEEPS® Milk officially has its own day. Today at a ceremony in Granite City, Ill., home of Prairie Farms PEEPS® Milk, Mayor Ed Hagnauer announced an official proclamation that February 22nd will be known as “Prairie Farms PEEPS® Milk Day” in Madison County, Illinois. Accepting the honors were Prairie Farms’ Chef Rob Lagerlöf and the PEEPS® Chick, who flew in from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, hometown of PEEPS®, to celebrate this special day.

The owners of the family-owned Italian Bakery are scrambling to figure out how to supply fresh bread to hundreds of clients and to their downtown shop after their northeast-Edmonton location was destroyed by fire overnight Saturday. The gutted bakery supplied bread to more than 300 wholesale customers and to the downtown Italian Bakery at 10644 97 Street.

George DePasquale started Essential Baking Company in Seattle in 1994. After testing the waters at farmers markets and other locations around town, DePasquale heard that Buchan’s Bakery, a charming 1920s red-brick building in the Fremont neighborhood, was for lease. He jumped at the chance to establish a permanent home for the business. “We call ourselves the biggest little bakery in town,” said DePasquale. “We deliver to most of the grocery chains and many of the restaurants and cafes in Puget Sound, using our own trucks. We also sell to national distributors, so basically our product is available around the country.”
