Each year the National Garden Bureau chooses one perennial, bulb and annual to highlight as their “Year of the” varieties. “Each is chosen because they are popular, easy-to-grow, widely adaptable, genetically diverse, and versatile,” their website states. In 2016, they’ve chosen Begonia as their annual, Allium as their bulb and Delphinium as their perennial to highlight. We can’t be more thrilled – all three of these are some of our favorites to grow and we’re excited to have a reason to talk more about them. …

In 2015, our Elaine Paige™ rose won the “Oscar for roses”, also called The Golden Rose of the Hague. We present our new range of roses and clematis for the very first time at IPM 2016. And who knows? Maybe one of these new introductions will have the potential to win an Oscar in a few years’ time. …

The Bloom Project, a volunteer-driven nonprofit that provides fresh floral bouquets to hospice and palliative care patients, has been awarded a grant from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation (CCUIF). Receiving a donation of $2,500, The Bloom Project was one of 67 nonprofit organizations recognized in seven counties throughout southwestern Oregon. …
