Working together with growers, shippers, and carriers Navidad is able to provide food baskets to over 15,000 families-in-need during the holiday season. This year ALC worked with companies such as Wada Farms, Dayka+Hackett, Rainier Fruit Company, Wonderful Citrus, and Grimmway Farms to provide food donations. Tasteful Selections, a specialty potato brand from RPE Inc., continues to promote non-profit partner Katie’s Krops in stores across the country to educate shoppers about local hunger relief efforts. The “Meet Your Grower” campaign allows shoppers to meet local Katie’s Krops growers and learn how their purchase of Tasteful Selections can make an impact in their communities. The campaign was launched at select retailers with customized in-store events, display contests, and point-of-sale materials this past October, and will continue through January.

Mandarins Lead Citrus Category Sales

According to recent IRI Worldwide data, mandarins lead all citrus categories in dollar sales at retail and are up 17.3 percent, representing almost 37 percent of all citrus sales for the last year. Mandarins also lead in pound sales, up just over 19 percent.
