Recently introduced legislation by Congressman David Jolly of Florida will hopefully lead to a more accurate count of red snapper and other reef fish in the Gulf of Mexico.

Senators Introduce Resolution Against Catfish Inspection Office

U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) introduced a Resolution of Disapproval under the Congressional Review Act today that would nullify the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) final rules establishing the catfish inspection program. Under the Congressional Review Act, Congress can overturn actions by a federal agency, like USDA, after a rule is formally published and submitted to Congress. If the resolution is enacted into law, it would nullify the new catfish inspection rules, which were officially published on December 2, including any portions of the regulations that have already gone into effect.

Survey: Nearly 80 Percent Of Americans Mistakenly Believe Chicken Contains Added Hormones Or Steroids

The National Chicken Council (NCC) today released new national survey findings on consumers' perceptions about chicken production, revealing that nearly 80 percent of Americans mistakenly believe that chicken contains added hormones or steroids, when in fact no chicken sold or raised in the U.S. is given hormones or steroids.
