Second Largest Alaska Salmon Harvest In 2015, But Low Payout

Alaska’s 2015 salmon season produced the second largest harvest ever, but rock bottom prices yielded the lowest pay out to fishermen since 2006. That will cut into the tax base of coastal communities and state coffers, which collect fully half of all fish landing taxes.

Joseph Epstein Food Enterprises, Inc., an East Rutherford, N.J. establishment, is recalling approximately 190 pounds of turkey meatball products due to misbranding, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The label declares the product as “gluten-free,” a false negative claim.
