School Nutrition Leaders Prep Produce Industry For Capitol Hill

On Tuesday, September 29 United Fresh will host the roundtable discussion, “School Nutrition Standards Make Impact Where It Counts” with three nationally recognized school nutrition leaders from the largest to smallest school districts, in both urban and rural settings in order to prepare produce industry leaders for their march on Capitol Hill. This general session lunch will highlight the importance of protecting the fruit and vegetable standards in the 2015 Child Nutrition Reauthorization legislation and discuss how schools around the country are successfully serving more fresh fruits and vegetables, benefitting 31 million students every day.

Stemilt Awards $37,500 In College Scholarships To Local Students

Stemilt Growers is helping send six local students to college this fall through its participation in Washington Apple Education Foundation’s (WAEF) scholarship program. The company awarded over $37,500 in college scholarships in 2015 through WAEF, and its recipients were honored along with others during WAEF’s annual scholarship luncheons held on July 20th in Yakima, WA and July 27th in Wenatchee, WA.
