NPC Past Presidents Honored For WIC Accomplishment

At the National Potato Council (NPC) Annual Meeting on January 9, 2015, in Orlando, Florida, seven NPC past presidents were invited to come on stage to be recognized for their involvement in adding fresh white potatoes to the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. Each past president received a framed copy of WIC educational material that was hand-delivered to Members of Congress. The battle was fought long and hard with victory within arms-length throughout that seven-year course, but at the end of the day it remained an uphill battle until the bitter end.

Storm Brews In Galveston Bay Over Oyster Lease

There is a storm brewing in Galveston Bay that could affect the supply of Gulf oysters throughout the five Gulf States, as well as well national and international markets. Sustainable Texas Oyster Resource Management (STORM) has leased submerged bottomland owned by the Chamber-Liberty Counties Navigation District (CLCND) for the purpose of growing oysters bypassing the State of Texas; an action that could change the current landscape of the Texas oyster industry and possibly affect other seafood harvests.
