Michigan’s Chestnut Industry Is Booming

The chestnut industry in Michigan is rapidly growing. There are currently over 100 growers, with the farm sizes averaging four to acres, but some are as large as 100 acres. Last year, 80,000 pounds of chestnuts were harvested by Michigan growers.

James William Bensch, age 71, of Houston died of heart complications on Tuesday, December 9, 2014.  He is survived by his wife Ginger and five children: Jerri, Chris, Courtney, Cody, and Caty, as well as five grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Kathy, loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
