The US remains the major global driver, with import demand affecting prices and volumes for other countries. A big question heading into 2015 with such a finely balanced market is-if Australian export rates decrease and herds in Mexico and Canada continue to be run down by the US-whether a new norm has been reached for prices or whether they still have room to rise.

Cut Flower Grower Meetings Scheduled For March 2015

The Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers (ASCFG) will host two meetings next March. The first will be held in Athens, Georgia, March 2-3. Speaker sessions include using woody ornamentals as cut flowers, postharvest handling techniques, healthy soils, and a wreath-making demonstration. Tours of local flower farms will take place the second day.

The GrowIt! Garden Socially app is proud to announce the six recipients of its 2014 Fall Scholarship Program. More than 150 students applied from 30 of the nation’s top horticulture programs. Through the GrowIt! app, students shared their plant photography for a chance to win a $500 or $100 scholarship. The GrowIt! Team selected winning applications from their plant profile, based on overall picture quality, the range of varieties uploaded, and their accuracy of plant identification.
