Fire Destroys Western PA Meat Packer Dayton Packing

Fire destroyed a meat packing business in Armstrong County Wednesday morning. The fire started around 1:30 a.m. at Dayton Packing on Slaughterhouse Road in Wayne Township, just outside of Dayton.

Rep. Slaughter Calls On FDA & Congress To Act On Antibiotics

In light of new data from a groundbreaking Reuters report showing widespread, indiscriminate use of antibiotics in meat production, Congresswoman Louise M. Slaughter (D-NY), the only microbiologist in Congress, renewed her call for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to take action to protect antibiotics for human use. Slaughter is currently leading legislation to stop the indiscriminate use of eight critical classes of antibiotics in meat production, as well as a bill requiring the FDA to collect and publicize more data about antibiotic usage from the agriculture industry.

The Cattlemen’s Beef Board will invest about $39 million into programs of beef promotion, research, consumer information, industry information, foreign marketing and producer communications in fiscal year 2015, if this week's recommendation of the Beef Promotion Operating Committee is approved by USDA, following review by the full Beef Board.

It all began on August 13th when Deliflor LatinAmerica attended Marco Island FL, for the annual convention of SAF (Society of American Florists). It was a great 3-day meeting in which we were attending educational conferences and meetings with some of our clients, as well as with customers of our clients. As every year, the convention attracted the most important characters in the world of flowers for America. We had the pleasure to enjoy warm conversations, very interesting debates on our world of flowers, plus we got a few awards.
